THAT’S ULT – EPISODE 014: QUICK! CHANGE THE CHANNEL

Big names like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis were heavily relied upon to sell movies tickets back in the 80’s and 90’s.  These world-renowned idols were usually the cornerstones of any big name action movie. Nowadays, the modern action film genre no longer requires a roided-out leading man to draw in movie goers.  Producers are now looking for leading men that embody the average citizen.  Is this perhaps to  help audience members relate or has the audience evolved to desire a more practical realistic lead actor?  With the “everyday man” hero becoming more and more prevalent, we’ve decided to take a look back at some of our favorite childhood blockbuster films and analyze why the “Big Name Action Star” marketing model no long exists.
