THAT’S ULT – EPISODE 021: CHILDHOOD CARTOONS NEVER FADE

Thats Ult Banner Ep021 Page

This week, the lovable lugs at Ultness discuss some of their favorite childhood cartoons. Classics like the Disney Afternoon, X-Men: The Animated Series, and He-Man. We also blow the dust off more obscure cartoons like Exo-Squad, Pirates of Dark Water, and The Bots Master. It was a different time, it was a simpler time. There was no DVR to record your favorite shows for you. Instead, you had to rely on analog VCRs and clunky VHS tapes. If you missed your favorite show, you couldn’t pull up the latest episode on Hulu, it simply didn’t exist. You couldn’t even look up the episode listings and synopsis on Wikipedia because most of us didn’t have the internet!

While lamenting the loss of the legendary Saturday morning cartoon block, we compare modern children’s cartoons with the toons of the 80s and 90s. Sure, much of this episode is done through rose-tinted glasses but that’s the point! This episode is an all-out nostalgia fest meant to dig up old memories of our younger selves planted in front of the TV on Saturday AM. In the end, we had too much nostalgia to fit in one episode. This topic will likely need to be revisited in the future.

Please feel free to leave a comment about some of your childhood favorites!

One of my favorite artist, Jeffrey ‘CHAMBA’ Cruz, does his rendition on “The Cap-Bearer”.  If you know who this is, YOU HAD AN AWESOME childhood.
