Ratchet and Clank Gameplay Trailer

As if Spring 2016 wasn’t packed already with a lot of Sony exclusives, from Uncharted 4 to Street Fighter 5; now, we can add Ratchet and Clank to that list.

According to multiple interviews with Insomniac, this new game isn’t a remake, but a re-imagining. Although that may sound like a nicer word for remake, it isn’t. The story of the game combines a lot of plot points of the original game and the movie.

Graphically, this looks stunning – even more so than the Ratchet and Clank FutureĀ series that was on the PS3. It’s been said that these games have always gone for a more interactive Pixar look, and it’s safe to say that they’ve nailed it here.

There’s also more gameplay, courtesy of YouTuber SuperNormalMode:

One of the more noticeable changes to the game is the UI. It’s a lot cleaner and less cluttered than it’s been in the past, especially the weapon wheel.

Speaking of weapons, based on the gameplay, it doesn’t seem like Insomniac has let up with the overall silliness of the tone in the weapons. They’ve added a pixel gun, which I personally can’t wait to get my hands on. While adding new things, they’ve kept a few things from the series’ past like Mr. Zurkon, which was one of my favorite weapons from the Ratchet and Clank Future series.

Ratchet and Clank releases Spring 2016 for the Playstation 4 for $39.99.
