100ft Robot Golf Trailer

As the Playstation Experience started to wind down, I wasn’t feeling like there was much for me there, but then the trailer for 100ft Robot Golf comes out of nowhere and makes, let’s say, an impression on me.

This trailer starts off as just some dumb thing where it looks as if the developers, No Goblin, have taken a generic golf game and switched the players out with robots. It wasn’t that strong a start to the trailer, but the places this trailer goes are pretty cool. Going from the green of a golf course to snowy mountains to space, where the balls you hit become comets – it’s all just…great.

Then, just when I thought it was over, they cut to footage of a Neon Genesis: Evangelion-inspired anime, which I’m really, really hoping makes it in the game and ties together whatever crazy excuse for a story this thing has. And even though the characters and anime cutscenes may – that I know thus far – take inspiration from Evangelion, I hope it also leans into a more self-aware tone. Striking that balance could do wonders for something like this.

100ft Robot Golf is expected to launch in 2016 for PS4 and PSVR.
