A Monster Calls Trailer

Based on the best selling book of the same name, and from the acclaimed director of The Impossible, comes a tale of courage, grief, and commencement. Conor is a young boy plagued by nightmares. His mother terminally ill, he finds solace in his drawings and imagination. One night a monster beckons Connor to an old yew tree, where it promises to help him. Provided he tells the beast about his nightmares. The film stars Liam Neeson, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, and introduces Lewis MacDonald as Conor!

A coming of age tale about grief through the eyes of a boy and his imagination. Not an uncommon story, but that is always enjoyed.  The trailer reminds me of the The Bridge to Terrabithia meets BFG. I’m not too familiar with director J.A. Bayona, but visually the film looks stunning. To add insult to injury I haven’t read the book the film is based on either. Should probably work on that. Regardless A Monster Call looks like a film with a lot of heart, and a stellar cast.  I look forward to checking it out when it hits theaters in the US, Oct. 21, 2016.
