Prey Gameplay Trailer

During the Game Awards, Arkane Studios showed off some new gameplay from the upcoming Prey reboot, simply titled, Prey. In the 8-ish minute trailer, we see a lot of what we’ve seen in the past like the mimic ability and the shadow-esque aliens, but there’s also some new things in this trailer not previously seen in trailers’ past.

The new being that the aliens also have said mimic ability. It’s interesting, as this could be a pretty nice change of pace for combat. The idea of being in the middle of a combat scenario, having the alien turn into a random object and trying to find it and finish it off sounds like a thrilling time.

There’s also a focus on traversal, as  weapons can assist in getting to new heights in the area you’re in. There was also some zero gravity gameplay. I’m interested to see how much the game itself focuses on traversal, as that was a big element of the original Prey: using traversal to solve puzzles and resolve combat scenarios.

Overall, I’m interested in the new Prey. Sure, it’s no Prey 2, but at the end of the day, this still has my curiosity. A lot of people have noted that this feels like the tonal love-child of Dead Space and Bioshock. Don’t get me wrong, I see what they mean, but this seems to lean more into a psychological horror vibe.

Prey launches Spring 2017 for PS4/PS4 Pro, Xbox One, and PC.
