Blade Runner 2049 Teaser

The trailer for the sequel to Ridley Scott’s cult classic, Blade Runner 2049, has finally arrived. Set thirty years after the events of the first film, replicant blade runner, K (Ryan Gosling), uncovers a plot that could destroy the very fabric of society. With no one else to turn to, K must hunt down legendary blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), if he hopes to save the future.

What a gorgeous trailer. It’s clear director Denis Villeneuve has captured the cyber punk aesthetic of the original: the despotic atmosphere, the wardrobe, even the logo. I’m a big fan of Roger Deakins’ cinematography, especially in Sicario, and this trailer once again shows off Villeneuve’s talent for visual story telling. Even if we get little in terms of plot from the trailer; the haunting images are enough to peak my interests. Now, I have so many questions: is K a replicant? Where has Deckard been all this time? Is he a replicant too!? Only time will tell.

Are you excited for the new Blade Runner, or would prefer it remain a solo cult classic? Sound off in the comments below. Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters October 6, 2017.
